Portable Retail And Exhibition Display Units

Promotional Gazebos Both Protect And Promote

Portable retail and exhibition display units are used at travelling displays like at expos, trade fairs and shows where many companies have temporary stands that are visited by potential clients.  These exhibition displays should be easy to transport and set up.  Visitors do not only want to see banners and brochures; they want to see the real thing.  If your products are small enough to display at your stand, you should have them there in a display unit for people to look at.  These units can be locked and secured to the floor to reduce the risk of damage or theft.

Portable retail and display units are available in many different variants.  Display showcases are usually made of glass or perspex to allow an unhindered view of the products on display.  Many of them have storage compartments in which additional stock can be kept.  A retail unit would not necessarily be a showcase; it may consist of a counter and shelves and would most likely be permanently manned by a staff member.  Its purpose is to be as inviting and attractive as possible, while showing off your products to best effect.

A retail unit can function like a little autonomous shop and can be placed in a shopping centre all by itself, manned by a single person to maintain a presence where you do not have a formal shopfront.  These units are wheeled for easy moving about and the wheels can be locked.  The units also feature security features to safeguard stock when the unit is locked and unmanned, after-hours.

A Mobile Shopping Kiosk To Promote Your Brand

Even a very small shop in a large shopping centre may command a monthly rental of over R50,000 and many people have opted to have a shopping kiosk instead.  A mobile shopping kioskmerchandising unit such as this also costs money to park in a shopping centre, but it is usually less than renting a shop and there are several other advantages too:

  • You save money over renting a shop
  • The unit is mobile, so you can move it to other venues whenever you need to
  • The kiosk can be manned by a single person
  • You can get exposure for your brand in high-traffic areas
  • The kiosk is secured to the floor and your stock can be locked away at the end of the day

Multiple Uses

A shopping kiosk is a miniature, mobile shop front and as such, it can be put to use in various settings and applications.  We have already mentioned the example of parking it in a busy shopping centre where it gives your brand a presence without having to rent a shop.  However, because it is mobile, you can move it to flea markets, trade fairs, exhibitions, fêtes and bazaars to promote your brand and sell your products there too.

Mobile but Secure

Several shopping kiosk designs are available and they are all wheeled so they can be moved around with ease and with the minimum of manpower.  However, once they are in place, they can be securely anchored to the floor to prevent them being moved by unauthorised people and the wheels can be locked to prevent the kiosk from moving when leaned against.  There are usually many secure storage compartments for stock and these can naturally be locked as well.  Often, the display cases can all be closed up and locked too, without having to remove all the products from the shelves.

Shopping Kiosk Designs

The design of your kiosk would depend on several factors; shopping centres may prescribe a specific design and all kiosks in the centre may have to be identical in the interest of uniformity.  The type of products you sell would also determine the type of kiosk you would require, the size and height of the shelves and other features.  Designs vary widely:

  • some incorporate counters all-round to use for working surfaces or where clients can sit down
  • aluminium and perspex are popular materials and impart a modern feel; woodgrain finish, fabrics, plastics and glass can also be combined in the construction of the kiosks
  • some models have shelves behind glass or perspex windows to display wares; others have hooks and dedicated hanging spaces
  • there is usually a special place for the cash register

Accessories, Banners and Extras

Normally, your shopping kiosk would have to be supplemented with other props to improve its visual impact and to this end, you would require branding on it; the units usually have dedicated spaces for this.  You may also opt to put up banners nearby and pull-up banners are probably the most versatile.  They roll compactly into a tube and can often be stored inside the unit, but while they are up, they provide a large canvas for advertising your brand.
